ABOUT ADOPT OHIO
We are a volunteer ran, non-profit, community outreach organization located in Ohio. Our mission is to improve animal welfare by bringing communities together. Together in community, we can all create positive change for one another and strengthen our connections to all living beings. Pets are a part of our community as pets are family.
We primarily assist unhoused people with their pets and pet owners experiencing a crisis event (such as job loss, homelessness, personal illness, disability, military deployment, etc). We support trap-neuter-return programs for managing the feral cat population and loan out humane traps to community members wanting to help in their neighborhood. We support veterinary medical professionals with low-cost spay/neuter initiatives to aid in reducing the unwanted pet population.
Due to space & financial limitations, our charity cannot accept animal surrenders. However, we do provide support to fellow organizations that do accept animal surrenders. We believe in a culture of teamwork. Our volunteers come from a wide range of marginalized identities within society. Thus, diversity, equity, inclusion, and restorative justice within animal welfare are the primary focus of our organization.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH SERVICES
TRAP RENTAL PROGRAM
Columbus
Adopt Ohio loans out humane traps to good samaritans needing to trap, neuter and release feral cats in their area. We are only able to provide this service to Columbus residents currently. We do ask for a $10 donation per trap. We provide canned cat food, puppy pads/newspaper and instructions on how to trap.
OUR CURRENT PROJECTS AND GOALS
FRANKLIN COUNTY TNR
We are currently working on a large scale trap, neuter and release project for Franklin County. We are collaborating with several rescues, veterinarians and other agencies in the area. If you would like to donate to this cause, please note the low cost vets we work with require $40-60 per cat surgery. ANY amount helps. Thank you for your support!
RABBITS IN NEED
We advocate for responsible pet ownership especially for rabbits. Around March to May, many people buy a rabbit as gifts. Most of the time, these pets do not work out. They are then abandoned outside or dumped on shelters/rescues with limited resources.
If you want to help rabbits in need, please consider volunteering with a rabbit group such as River Road Rabbit Rescue. You can learn more by visiting their facebook page.
